Hollie Smith - Hollie Smith EP

Its not often you put a disc in your player and get totally mesmerised. The Hollie Smith EP is a fine example of Hollie's talent to compose and structure tracks that both flow with style and ease.
Bringing in some of Wellington's fine posse of artists (members from Fat Freddy's, Trinity Roots and Twinset) to enhance the production, it's fairly hard to classify the genre, however it lies somewhere between soul, jazz and roots.
The result is gorgeous, and from the opening track you're hooked.
Quite possibly a fantastic Sunday morning treat as you're waking, or even when you're getting dressed up for that special cocktail party, not unlike Sade, it puts you in the right frame of mind and sets your mood bar to more than good.
It would be tricky to isolate a standout track, because they all inherit the lush slow groove, and vocally she is hitting marks where so many others struggle.
Hollie's lyrics are deep and filled with love and soul, and she means every word of it.
Quality stuff, Hollie seems to be on the right track, and most importantly in her own way.
Best you put the Hollie Smith EP in your CD player too.
