Maori Artists To Play For Christchurch At PAO PAO PAO 2011

Toi Māori Aotearoa is proud to announce an exciting line-up of Māori musicians to play at PAO PAO PAO 2011 during NZ Music Month.
Award winner Maisey Rika is joined by Billy TK Senior and Mara TK, Tyna Keelan, Ria Hall, Bella Kalolo, David Grace, Matiu Te Huki, Wai, Toni Huata, Bebe Deluxe and Porirua reggae band Vintage in the annual Māori Music showcase to sing their support for victims of the Christchurch earthquake.
Event Manager, Ngahiwi Apanui, says that everyone has been touched by what happened in Christchurch and proceeds from Pao Pao Pao 2011 will be donated to the earthquake relief effort.
"While we may come from different backgrounds, the feeling of aroha for the people of Christchurch transcends all of those differences - this our opportunity as Māori musicians to make a contribution."
The two-hour show will be held at Pipitea Marae, Wellington on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 May 2011 and will feature a range of musical genres from Pūoro Māori to soul, hip hop, reggae and funk, all with Māori musical influences.
