Laneway Timetable Released

19.1.11

The timetable and map for St Jerome's Laneway Festival 2011 have now both been released, with the event now less than two weeks away.

You can download the timetable HERE

Reknowned Kiwi band An Emerald City will kick off the proceedings at 12.30pm on Monday 31 January. There's no doubt their mysterious and monolithic sound will envelope the venue of Aotea Square, putting audiences in a fitting state of mind to take in the rest of the day.

Lawrence Arabia will immediately follow at 1pm. On 17 September 2009, the artist behind the guise, James Milne, was awarded the APRA Silver Scroll award for best New Zealand song of the year - Apple Pie Bed - proving he's much respected here in his homeland. Having just returned from a 12-month international tour to play a series of shows in New Zealand's main centres last month, we're truly privileged to have Lawrence Arabia and his band the Prime Ministers performing in the heart of Auckland City.

Children's Hour - predecessors to the Headless Chickens - are dark, powerful, intense and at times overwhelming, mining similar but different territory to early Birthday Party. At Laneway 2011, they're generously treating us to their first performance in more than five years. They'll take to the stage at 1.45pm.

Following inevitably breathtaking performances by international acts Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, Holy Fuck, Warpaint, Deerhunter, Yeasayer and Beach House, New Zealand's Pip Brown (currently residing in the UK), known to most of us under her stage name of Ladyhawke, will provide the crescendo to New Zealand artists' contribution to Laneway. Soaking in her numerous international hits will be a great way for the audience to see out Monday 31 January's last daylight hour, with Ladyhawke opening her set at 7.45pm. Then it'll just be up to !!! (Chk Chk Chk) and Foals to finish off the day.

There's obviously many acts worth seeing at Laneway, so you'd best get your virtual (maybe even physical) hands on a timetable now and start planning you day!
