03.04.07 - Nearly twenty three months after it was released Fat Freddy's Drop's Based on a True Story has now spent an amazing 100 weeks in the The Official NZ Music Chart's Top 40 Albums list. Based on a True Story, which was the first independently distributed album to reach #1 on the NZ charts, is now likely to become the longest placed kiwi album in chart history when next week it equals Bic Runga's Beautiful Collision's 101 week chart run.
Based on a True Story (available from Amplifier in digital download MP3 format and CD format) is the highest selling album ever at Amplifier.co.nz. Its release in 2005 saw Amplifier staff working double shifts to fill the record number of pre-orders that the album received. Amplifier can also claim to have sold the first copy of the album as we started taking pre-orders for the album before any other NZ retailer. (Hey if we don't blow our own trumpet then who will????)
