Oxfam Fair Trade Free Gig

Auckland bands one million dollars and AK Samba will be entertaining the crowds in Aotea Square, Auckland with their funky beats on 21st May from 2.00pm - 5.30pm, in support of Fair Trade.
The Fair Trade movement developed in response to the poor working conditions and low prices suffered by many producers in the developing world, often forced on them by multinational corporations
Fair Trade is about working more closely with producers to ensure that they receive a fair price for their products and funds to invest in community development. Fair Trade promotes higher standards of living and environmentally sustainable farming practices.
Fairly traded products are increasingly available in New Zealand, and this Fiesta is part of a campaign by Oxfam, Trade Aid and the Fair Trade Association to encourage Kiwi shoppers to choose Fair Trade products.
Eamonn Deverall of one million dollars said, "It's good to have this opportunity to promote Fair Trade. Buying Fair Trade products is such an easy way that we can help make a real difference to the lives of disadvantaged farmers."
