Formed in 2002 Opensouls have steadily risen through the ranks of the New Zealand music scene since beginning their combined musical journey in 2001.

Comprised of 2 vocalists, M.C. Bjorn Petersen and singer Tyra Hammond, and a live band including Jeremy Toy a.k.a. Ota (guitar/MPC), Julien Dyne (drums), Chip Mathews (bass), Steph Brown (keys), Scott Towers (saxophone), Isaac Aesili (trumpet/vocals) and Harlin Davey a.k.a. DJ Buttafingers(turntables), the collective
possesses an abundance of musical flair and experience which they have used to great effect on their critically
acclaimed debut album Kaleidoscope.

Add to this a string of sold out 12" and 7" vinyl releases and an inspired live show, and it's clear to see why Opensouls are now widely regarded one of Aotearoa's premier groups.

The Dollars 7" comes with a code to get the MP3.....

Failing that we should have the MP3 available for sale shortly.

love opensouls. hold you close is my fave song at the mo, i love how different it sounds to anything else thats around. real upbeat 50-60's stuff. great for cold winter days!!

I have wanted the track "You Got Me Thinkin" on MP3 since I first heard it, and still can't get it? Come on!!!!!!! Vinyl aint nothing to me...I aint no DJ.

Good point re:mp3 that track. However, it strictly speaking, is not an opensouls track but one by The Tornadoes ft Tyra Hammond. Semantics I know but explains to a degree why it hasn't been released in mp3 format. I will def pass this on to the cat who looks after the Tornadoes to let him know that maybe we should chuck the track up.

hey opensouls peeps do y'all stil read this thread?
i bought the dollars 7inch when it came out, rawks.
it came with a neat little piece of paper that has a code on it so i can download mp3s of the tracks on the 7inch (dollars and sweetlove) - which is a mighty fine idea and should totally be the norm when it comes to vinyl releases. but - i just tried to do the download bizz and it turns out the page (www.opensouls.co.nz/downloads) doesn't exist?! what gives? is it just coz i'm a slowass? is there a way i can get my tracks? share the love OS!
