The Tumbleweeds

New Zealand's pioneering country band The Tumbleweeds' career spanned four decades. They were arguably this country's first true country band to be recorded in New Zealand. Their early hit Maple On The Hill initiated a long and successful career that spanned the years from March 1949 to January 1989.
The original members were Cole Wilson, who wrote many of the songs, also sang, played guitar, and was an accomplished yodeller – elected leader of The Tumbleweeds in 1950...
